Acceptable use Policy:

for AHEd wiki contributors and editors.

Section 1: Support for AHEd aims

This wiki is for home educators and home education supporter who agree to the aims of AHEd to defend and advance the rights and freedoms of home educators in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to elect to educate their children at home and outside of the school system without undue interference from authority and in accordance with their own philosophical convictions. We ask contributors to this wiki to agree to work here in support of these aims:

· Affirm that parents are responsible for the upbringing and education of their children and that this can be fulfilled outside the school system.

· Raise awareness of Home Education rights and freedoms and encourage independent, elective home-based learning outside the school system.

· Respond to current and proposed policies, legislation and consultations that potentially affect the rights and freedoms of families who choose home education.

· Promote the right to fair and equal treatment of families choosing to engage in independent, elective home based learning with their children.

· Provide information in support of these aims and promote a positive image of independent, elective home-based learning outside the school system.

Section 2: Editing Pages

It is possible that you may want to edit a page when someone else is working on the page. When you begin to edit a page, it is locked to other contributors for only five minutes so you will be offered the option of stealing the edit lock from the person currently working on the page. Please handle this situation carefully. Stealing the edit lock of another contributor can result in their work being lost. This is discouraging to your fellow wiki workers. Consider if you can wait a while before editing, or work on a different page. Perhaps you could email the person editing to see if you can ask them to budge over.

Section 3: Developing the Policy

This policy is open to development and improvement by wiki users. To suggest policy options and additions please use the comments button at the top of this page, or write to enquiries@ahed.org.uk

AHED wiki team.
